It sounds like a protozoan infection which can be detrimental to that fishes well-being and other life in the tank.

I've had fish with similar problems and they can be treated with products from aquatic centres or pet shops if caught early enough, you may need to isolate the infected fish though.

I typed 'fish problems' into google and many help sites came up.

I hope all goes well

Here is a couple of the sites that came up on Google.

Hi,
That sounds like carp pox. It's a variant of the herpes virus but it's not catching and the fish seem to cope perfectly well with it. It often appears as the pond is cooling down as we get towards winter and it will probably disappear once the water warms again in the spring. There isn't a cure but your fish should survive perfectly fine.

Incidentally, having seen a frog trying to mate with one of my prize koi by holding on with its feet poked into the fish's eyes I will NEVER encourage frogs or toads into my pond. If I come across one in the pond or filter it is swiftly removed. Frogs and toads are also carriers of parasites that will affect your fish. I've nothing against wildlife, it's just that wildlife and koi definitely do not mix !.
