Lara asked:
Can i feed dried fish power to my koi carp fry? In our place some lake fisher man catch fish fish and they dry them in sun and sold them. These dry fish are especially sold for humenbeing. But i am wondering if i can feed this to my koi fish fry too or not? Does any one had experience in feeding fish itself to other live fish?

koi (like goldfish) are vegetarians and would not get much nutritional value from it. Try dried algae.
Like someone said koi are vegetarians. If you put small fish in with them they would eat it but it wouldn’t help them any. Get algae or something like that for them to try. Or just stick to your regualr fish food.
Koi are omnivorous.
They will eat eventually everything such as:
1.flake and pellet food or specialised proprietary koi foods of
various types;
2.also include some vegetable matter and
3.live or frozen foods ;
4.fish may nibbles at plants as well.
How old are your fry? If they are really small – less than one inch – they may not be able to eat the dried fish as the particles, as small as you could crumble them, would be too big to fit in their tiny mouths. When my fry are first hatched, I use baby brine shrimp and boiled egg yolk mashed with pond water.
Once they are big enough to eat flake food, you can just crumble regular fish food. But people food works, too – as ray, above, said, koi are omnivorous and eat a little bit of everything. I’ve fed mine brine shrimp, watermelon, orange slices, bread, Cheerios, pizza crust, daphnia, and so on. You just want to stay away from land-based proteins like beef, pork, etc.
Hope this helps.
