Is he very excitable does it get worse when he's wound up?
Some highly strung dogs can be like this-almost like high blood pressure in people but of course not dangerous in the same way.If its an allergy I dont expect you will ever find the cause-although the vet will probably take several hundred pounds of your money before telling you this!

I would consider seeing a veterinary opthamologist if this has been going on a while. Allergies typically dont start that young, and dogs dont usually show eye irritation as a sign of allergies, usually its itchy skin, hair loss, ****** swelling, hives, vomiting etc. To find a opth. near you try this site.

You could try a salt water solution, e.g. one part salt to three parts tepid water. Your dog might not like it, but it can help.

I have a English Springer Spaniel and he has a problem his eye tissue and tear duct have grown out. He had to get surgery on it. The vet said it may stay the same or go back. Time past and he still had a problem but a different one. See what your vet said because it could be a real big problem.

Yeah, he might have hair in his eyes, but you should have him tested for allergies. Allergies in dogs are more common that people realize. Two of my dogs have bad allergies and we didn't know until we had three different vets look at them. Good luck with it though! :)

it could be allergies or anything. if what your vet gave you isn't working then try another vet for a 2nd opinion. Are there certain times of the day or places that it gets irritated?
