  • It depends on what type of mites they are.

My vet gave my dog one injection a week for 10 weeks. The injection is called Dectomax. That was for demodex mites.

They are notoriously hard to get rid of, and I have my doubts about the dipping. Plus the dipping is more toxic than the injections.

I would go for a 2nd opinion FAST. There are special shampoos for use at home, but mainly adjacent (sp?) to other therapies. Nothing to muck around with.

  • This is nothing to muck around about! Mites can be serious if you don’t get them under control and quick. Depending on the type of mite I’d ask about injection rather than a dip. I could go for 1 or 2 dips + an injection or two. But I agree with the person above, just dipping despite the cost I believe is a little to toxic for any dog. 2nd opinion is the way I would go.
