Does anyone know what a Weimaraner Vizsla Mix looks like?

vizsla
Matthew B asked:

My Vizsla got my brother’s Weimaraner pregnant. Just wondering what the puppies might look like.
For the record, all of them will have a home, additionally how is more human to get a dog fixed, and at the same time more and more women are getting pregnant at a young age and giving up the kids to adoption homes. Think about your answers people thats all I ask. Don’t be a pessimist.

  • they will look like mutts.

    Get them spayed and nuetered.

  • brown look like mutts i hope i helped!!

  • Like so many other mutts (mixed breeds) that don’t have homes already.
    OR
Like the family that owns it’s parents are irresponsible.

  • In spite of the fact that they will be mixed breed dogs, they will probably be well-built dogs which are obviously pointers. I suspect they will look fine, and be decent hunting dogs. Dogs of different breeds which share a purpose and are of similar construction and temperament can be expected to make decent pups.

Hopefully, both of the parents are healthy, and structurally and temperamentally sound and you will be able to find good and responsible homes for the pups.

  • SPAY TODAY never wonder again.
    CASTRATE the dog today,too.

MUTT/MONGRELS can onlylook like the disasters they are!

They will look like the tragic results of irresponsible pet owners. Why aren’t you wondering where to place the puppies?

  • The pups will be some shade of brown,iIf the Weim was a regular silver/gray. (That is actually NOT a gray at all, but a LIVER gene with a dilution factor). The Weim color is recessive to other colors. Now, if the Weim was Blue, I am not all sure at least half the puppies would not be blue/gunmetal. Blue is a black gene+a dilution factor and is a more dominant color.
Here’s a supposed Vizsla x Weim mix on petfinder:
    described as Expresso.

In that Weims Vizslas can have litters of 10-12 pups without setting any records (and these are hard financial times, where very few reputable breeders are BREEDING, due to the difficulty in $elling) WHY do you ASSUME you won’t have any trouble placing a litter? Ugh…. unless you’re going to KEEP all of them?

Even if given FREE to a good home, it doesn’t mean the new owners won’t loose their jobs be unable to keep, or pay for proper vet care food. A reputable breeder would never have let this accident happen (your ***** could be still be spayed ASAP) AND would stand behind the dogs they produce (including being willing to take them back, if needed.)

Why the question as to why’s it humane to spay/neuter? We don’t OWN other people, nor control their actions – but we CAN control our pets. They are both healthier and happier, if fixed. (They suffer from less reproductive types of cancer, and better behaved pets, including less roaming/ marking, much lower incidence of biting and NO accidental litters of unwanted mutts… that take away homes from dogs in need of adoption.)

They will look like this- http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1642&id=100000177615758&l=aa4f13abd6
This is a public album showing my 5 month old Weimaraner (Father)/Vizsla (Mother)Mix.
I hope that helps a bit to find out what they will look like ;-)

I have a viszla weim mix. The breeders accidentally got a litter a few years before my pup, and loved them so much they did another breeding on purpose. Tulla, my dog, is chocolate brown (which is what the breeders told me happened the first go round). She looks exactly like a vizsla, but is chocolate brown. In other words, she’s beautiful. Hum, where do you live? ; ) I’ll send you a picture of my angel if you’re really interested.

  • lisa

Hi – if any of the placings fall through please contact me. I have a weimaraner already.

  • Holly

I might be interested in a puppy. Where are you located?

  • Brett

It will look like a chocolate lab only leaner, with a stubby tail and shorter fur. Gorgeous dog! I have a 6 year old Weim/Vizsla mix and if you met him, you’d think he was a 55lb puppy. No issues with him aside from sensitive skin every April/May that clears up with antihistamine.

  • Marcey

Speaking from a truely bias opinion…. they are the most beautiful combo! I ACTUALLY stumbled upon this site because I would love to find such a mix. I have a Vizsla and have had weimeraners in the past. While walking in the woods I ran into the most beautiful chocolate brown “weimerizsla”..HEHE. The pup had the built of a weim, smooth, short, shiney coat of a vizsla and color of a chocolate lab. I would love to potentially adopt one if you are looking for responsible honors that treat their pups like a family member. Good luck

So there is no confusion… I own a gorgeous weim/ vizsla mix. He will be 9 years old this week, and looks and behaves like a dog half his age. Extremely freindly, sweet/affectionate, energetic, and smart. Very athletic, loves to play, very good hunter insticts, super clean, doesn’t smell or slobber, shiny choc brown (coffee colored) coat. Best dog I have ever had, and have gotten comments or had people ask me his entire life what breed he is since he is so pretty. Very unique and fun dog!

  • leanne

we have a beautiful cross has the most fantastic temperament very loyal and world go to the ends of the earth for our children..playful fast and all legs lol…looking for a mix pup to breed with our beautiful boy..

  • jo

why is evry1 against mixed? i own 7 mixed dogs and only 1 pure bred. and i personally think that the mix’s are SO MUCH BETTER! What planet are most of you people from??? Not all dogs HAVE to be purebred? why do you have to go and degrade someone just because of a mating??? there NOT YOUR DOGS!!!

    STAND UP FOR MIXS!
    BOO THE PURE’S!

  • fiona

do you have any puppies left? we are really keen to find a chocolate cross weimeraner viszla please?

  • Katie

I think the puppies must be beautifull! I can not beleive some of the mean comments on here, for on a Vizsla and A Wien are alsomt the same dog, other than the color, and a wien being slightly larger, they are almost the same, the dogs with look mostly like a Vizsla, maybe more brown than rust colored. I would love it. We have a Vizsla/Beagle mix and I would not trade him for anything in the world, Sometimes having a mixed breed is more desirable because you can get qualities of both breeds, How do you think they developed most of the breeds today were cross beread with other breeds to get the qualities that they want. The pups wont look like a mutt at all, they will be perfect!

  • kotoni

i just bought one. she is solid chocoalate brown and lanky like a weimerrenner but she has big round ghost blue eyes.

  • Suzanne

Where did you get your puppy from? I’m looking for one just like her.

  • I have added a link of my Weim-V mix. Ok so it is a sage grouse hunting video…which he is in it. He assisted me in getting a limit. Sorry to the non-hunter but if you want to see an actual dog here it is.

  • If you click on my name “scott” the video will open.

  • Becca

I have one and she is stunning- people always comment on her and ask what breed she is. She has a fantastic temperament, can be completely trusted with children even though she hasn’t been brought up with them, is well behaved and seriously fast with excellent stamina.

So those of you with your pedigrees that struggle to breathe, have rubbish hips or other genetic diseases are misinformed. I qualify as a vet in 6 months and can say evidence to back me up that getting a pedigree dog is a mistake if you want a happy, healthy dog.

  • Becca

Out of interest, do you have any photos of the puppies? I’d love to compare them to mine. Just realised the original post was in November 2009, not 2010 as I initially read!

  • Ron Samson

We have a Weim/Vizsla mix. His name is Red, for obvious reasons. Physically he looks just like a Weimaraner but his color is deep read. A very beautiful dog, lots of energy, plays well, can be very aggressive if he feels his owners are threatened. Good around children, but does not like to be teased.

  • W. John

My associate has an 8 month old Vizla/Weimaraner mix and he’s all the other poster mentioned: Smart, obedient, focused, affectionate, athletic but without the hyper of the Vizla that can sometimes make that breed exhausting and tempermental. My collegue reports Charlie is especially considerate and effectionate with his wife, who has MS.

  • Aubrey

Okay, so all you saying that a vizsla/Weimaraner mix looks like a mutt, then you all are idiots and have apparently never owned a Wizsla! Yes, it is called a Wizsla everyone! We have owned ours for 6 years now and she is not mutt looking whatsoever! Mutts usually consist of multiple breeds and you can usually never tell what original breeds they came from! As for the Wizsla, it does not look like a mutt! You can see very promptly in her a vizsla breed and the Weimaraner breed! Beautiful dog!

  • Jane

We have the most beautiful dog called Rufus. He is four in May and we would love to find a bitch to breed him with. Rufus is totally loyal, loving and gentle. He totally changed our lives. Previously we had a Weimerahner but felt the breed was just too strong for our children to take on walks etc. Rufus is abundant in charactor and has proved a fantastic family dog. Everywhere we go people remark on how beautiful he is. I hope your puppies were as gorgeous as he is. Anyone want to breed a bitch with him let me know!

  • Duke

A Weimenraner/Vizsla mix puppies will be beautiful. They will probably be brownish. Both parents are elegant and athletic and they share similar physical characteristics. They are also dogs with very similar temperament. All in all, both breeds are one of the helthier dog breeds. Both breeds were bred for hunting purposes and both are exellent pointers and retrievers. They can be great family dogs but as hunting breed they will be even happier out on the field. They need a lot of exercise so this means the puppies will be the same as the parents. If you will be using them for hunting you won’t judge them on “BREED or MIX” basis and I hope you won’t spay or neuter them. An old chinese saying goes: “No matter if it is a white cat or a black cat; as long as it can catch mice it is a good cat.”

  • alex

I own a female cross. They are always brown and she is stunning. I have bought a pure of each as well and prefer my original cross breed. She gets all the love attention off strangers. I would buy another in the future, but they sell very fast!!

  • Spence

I have a 2 year old Weimaraner bitch in very good health and all the slender looks you expect from this breed. I have been looking into breeding her for some time and have found that Weimervizla is a very nice unique and great for families with young children! Also the demand for this breed has become quite high! if anyone with a male Visla in the greater Manchester area is interested in breeding then please contact me. Many thanks

  • leanne

i left a comment back in april we have a wiemerana who has just got preg with her litter from our cross it was planned and am looking forward to a gtreat litter not muts like some comments …have responsible owners waiting to adopt them as they know how fantastic our two are great with children and extremely loving need to be more than a pet need to be a big part of the family ..

  • Justin

Im looking to adopt a cross of the two. If any one has any information on a breeder to contact please forward me the contact information.

  • Ryan

All the people that said they will look like mutts are Idiots!!!!! A Viszla is a cross breed from a Weimaraner and a German short haired pointer. So a Weimaraner and Viszla world be great dog. They are dark brown in color.
