Barking Vizsla

My vizsla pup is 6 months old. He’s coming on really well, training classes are going ok BUT when he’s bored or wants attention or is excited he barks…and barks…and barks !.

I’ve tried the Dog Whisperer snap – hiss – poke solution but it does nothing, he thinks I’m playing.

Does anybody have any experience of using a bark spray collar on a young dog ?. I feel like a total failure for even considering this solution but even the trainers at classes are at a loss as to what I might try. They’ve tried spraying him with water when he barked, but although that works, it’s outdoors so not the ideal solution inside. Their other suggestion is to turn away and ignore him but that’s why he’s barking, he wants attention.

I’m working from home at my pc, so he’s nearby at all times and it’s really difficult to concentrate when there’s a 6 month old dog barking his head off 3 feet away.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.
