I would recommend a thermal blanket (some layers will be warmer than a single layer) on top of a fleece pad. My experience flying with my golden in cold months, is that the air carriers are very careful about transporting our pets. I doubt they would leave her outside in the cold -- however, if it were me, I'd tape a BIG sign on the outside of her crate: Hi, I'm Maggie. Please make sure I'm somewhere warm -- don't leave me out in the cold!
