39 inch wild steelhead on the Clearwater river in Idaho.
7 lb. rainbow out of Davis lake (before the kill off) with a 5wt fly rod, using a damselfly nymph pattern. Not the biggest fish I ever caught but, it was the how, what, when and where that make it a personal best. The singular most fun I have ever had catching (and releasing) a fish. Deschutes river redsides are really cool too. I think it’s more about the experience than the single fish.
Just off fishing now for 36 hours I’ll let you know. My pb for this lake is a 15lb 4oz common carp but we know they go up to 30-35lb so you never know.Were fishing a variety of hook baits from boilies to rubber corn to maggots to pellets, and weve got a 6-8 kilos of particles such as hemp, anise seed, maize mixed with tiger nut oil to spod and bait our clear spots.
Nice koi you’ve had! I envy you, i’ve only seen them that big in hotel ponds!
My personal best (not biggest) was a 9+ pound bass on a banjo minnow. Ive caught many 20+ pound catfish and carp but dont consider them my best catches just because there not as challenging to catch like bass and other gamefish.

bass- 8.5 lb largemouth caught on banjo minnow personal pond in ga about a year ago
catfish-25 lb channel cat caught on chicken liver in august 2008 in st johns river astor fl
crappie-2.4 lb white perch caught on golden shiner personal pond gleenville ga last weekend
stingray-5 foot wide didnt get a weight tybee island ga last year sometime caught on whole squid
shark-9.5 foot mako shark didnt get weight let it go key west fl caught on cut bait…i think it was mackrell around 1999 or 2000
