my lord. now i see why it is so hard being a red bone owner. i own a redbone that constantly gets mistaken for this breed. that dog is a red bone hound! Vizslas have a tannish, reddish, or brownish fur tone nose. This dog has a black nose. If I had a nickel for every time someone told me I had a beautiful Vizsla, and then when they found out my dog was a blood thirsty coon hound, they were disinterested, I’d have enough to pay my rent. That dog is a COON HOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good lord. I cannot believe how fashionable Vizslas are, and how many people mistake them for hounds. A coon hound, especially a red bone, is an incredible dog, with a history more proud than even the mighty vizsla. I’m not saying that this dog doesn’t have some Vizsla in it, but it’s definitely not full bread. No way; not with that nose. It could be both, but not just Vizsla. No way.
That looks more like a redbone coonhound than a viszla, due to her black nose and toenails. I think people think vizsla because it’s red, but there are other red dogs. If she bays and always has her nose to the ground, she’s a coonhound. Everyone who said she’s a vizsla probably has never seen a redbone coonhound (or an actual vizsla!) My redbone coonhound looked almost the same at about 3 months old, and people ask if she’s a vizsla all the time.
It looks like a mix to me…I got my dog, Mosey, from our local shelter. I was told that she was a Vizsla mix…she looks like a Vizsla except for her black nose and black rimmed eyes and mouth. She doesn’t have a docked tail either. The more I see pictures of other breeds the more curious I become…so I’ve been checking out Redbone Coonhounds as well. But I’m not convinced she is that either…so maybe a combination of both or a Heinz 57….it really doesn’t matter what your dog is or what Mosey is, especially if they are beloved pets…which is exactly what our Mosey is
For the comment saying Vizslas are fashionable or whatever, I hadn’t even heard of the breed until I adopted her…I was just looking for a running partner. And I knew I was to rescue a dog from a shelter. I am very fond of hunting breeds, but will not just look for a specific breed when the time comes to adopt another…we will adopt whatever dog fits into our family. Adopt…DON’T SHOP!!!
I’m assuming you are a human because dogs can’t type. If you mean something else, then you’ll need to clarify your question.
