The males will rub against her to stimulate her to lay eggs, then the males need to swim over the eggs to release milt to fertilize them. When keeping koi only one female to every one male to keep the females safe. The males will abuse and push the females to release the eggs so they are the ones to spawn. If the others are males....they will gang up on her since they all are via'ing for the right to spawn. Watch because too many males can cause the death of the female. Usually Koi won't spawn until they are around four years of age. However they will do this to goldfish that are 2 and come into eggs They can and do cross breed. Your female could be young. The males will chase the female and force her into overhanging grass, weeds etc to try and force all of her eggs out. They follow right behind and fertilise the eggs with their milt. It can be a very rough process, with the female being almost forced out of the pond. Once they've finished (usually within 24-36 hours) check the female for any lost scales or damage and then make sure that the fish have some top quality food to get them back into prime condition.
