I have tried using barley straw to remove green-water but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas? I would prefer a natural remedy.

Very difficult.. Keeping the sun off the water helps a lot.. it is the temperature of the water that grows this stuff.. The pros use a filter system and a UV light that kills most of this off quickly.
It’s hard this time of year with the algae blooms.
Maturity is the key, and also shade from light.
Even with U/V and a sand filter you would probably still have problems this time of year – I personally found chemical treatment to be the most effective.
Floating plants that cover 2/3rds of the pond will help.
