Why does my Vizsla chew off his paws?

Aeva Marie asked:

My vizsla is a year old and chews the callouses off his paws after I take him to run. We only run him at the tennis courts once monthly depending on weather. However when we return home he eats the bottom of his feet off. Any other walk, he doesn’t do anything.

    I don’t know.

There might be something on the court making his feet itchy. Heat or a chemical could be bothering his feet. Having a terrible itch you can’t scratch will make anyone tear their skin.

Stop running him at the tennis courts, it is obviously bothering his pads, if that’s the only time he does it then stop doing it. Problem solved.

Aeva Marie, I love the personality of a vizsla. They are so sweet.
