my large koi has 2 small raw spots on each side of his body. i cannot isolate him. how can i treat him.

  • If the spots are perfectly opposite each other, I’d venture a guess that it was trying to wiggle through a tight area, and simply shaved some scales and skin off. If they’re not about opposite, septicemia is most likely. There are two varieties: bacterial and viral. Viral is incurable, so we’ll just hope it’s bacterial, and act like it’s bacterial– no reason not to. If you’re running activated carbon or UV sterilization, suspend them both for the treatment period. Begin treating the tank with Furanase, Bifuran, Tricide Neo, trimethoprim sulfa, or soak the food with oxytetracycline or metronidazole.
