Well my mum had a outdoor pond for years and years and we had loads of frogs and they didn’t pass on any disease on to the fish, ive never heard of this before. You carn’t really deter them they will just keep coming back.

The only time frogs actually are aquatic is when they are breeding, the rest of the time they are in damp undergrowth. They can mistake large fish for females and whilst attempting to have *** damage the fishes slime coat leaving them open to disease, but frogs are beneficial to the ponds ecosystem, providing tadpoles for your fish to eat.

Probably joining a Koi forum would answer all your questions as they occur and give you ideas from other peoples problems and there’s a Q/A link with this one.

it is possible for frogs to spread disease to koi but it is very slight and if your fish are in good condition they should be able to handle any infections, frogs in mating season have been known to try to mate with fish but overall frogs are good for your pond. they keep insects at a reasonable level and the koi will eat tadpoles and small frogs. i try to encourage frogs and toads to my koi pond as it is all part of a natural pond balance and i dont get eaten alive by mosquitos when sitting around my pond.

Frogs are trying to mate with my fish and have killed two so far-is there anything I can do. Had the pond for years and his is the first time this has happened, would the fish survive if i took them inside in a fishtank until the mating frenzy is over? (Comets and Goldfish.)
