  • See link. There are many others too. It is perfectly possible to mix Koi goldfish (I do).

  • Yes, you can mix goldfish and koi. Koi were actually bred from goldfish for their color.

As for what you need for an outdoor pond, koi need alot of space as they, unlike goldfish, will outgrow their space. The also need a source of oxygen. Plants to retreat from the sun and predators. A good filtration system.

This website should offer some help.

  • A hole big enough for the amount of fish you are going to have,,a pond liner, a pump, a filter, some oxygen generating plants, and anything you want to make it look nice,
yes you can mix gold fish with koi,
I have a fairly large pond an all the fish, including gold fish and kio and others, and they are all doing great and growing

  • yes you can mix goldfish with koi carp but koi require 100% perfect where as goldfish require at least 68% good water.

there is a huge variety of coldwater fish for ponds these are:

    1) Goldfish (Common / Comet)
    2) Shubunkins
    3) Koi Carp
    4) Mirror Carp
    5) Grass Carp (Albino / Black)
    6) Sturgeon (Diamond / Siberian)
    7) Sterlet (Star / Standard) 8) Tench (Red / Albino / Green)
    9) Orf (Golden / Blue)
    10) Red Shiner
    11) Rud (Silver / Gold)

Just like an aquarium a bond requires a filter and sometimes an air pump.
The pond can either be made from a Fiber glass pre-shaped pond that is measured and placed in the ground or desired area or pond liner can be used.
there are many kinds of pond liner availible these days and this can range from £3.15 per sq mtr – £20.68 per sq mtr.

it all depends on what quality you want and how long you intend the pond to be there, the cheap pond liner will usually last about 8yrs and then will be broken down by sunlight, the most expensive pond liner will last you 40yrs as this is fibre glass and therefore sunlight will not brake down the material.

Ponds require a regular clean out and is ussually perfored using a specialized pond hoover, these can be bought from all pond and aquatic retailers and range in price from £50 – £150.

Plants can be added to ponds but be careful on which you put in as koi are pests for eating plants and will destroy every part of them including the roots, plus they will dig in the pots and stir up the silt which will produce a sediment at the bottom of the pond causing a raise in the nitrite, which will then lead to a raise in amonia which is poisonous to all fish.

to feed pond fish it all depends on the kind of fish you have and the size they are, you can get foods ranging from growth, staple, or cocktail all have different needs and qualities and is best being advised by you local aquarium retailers on what the fish are already being fed on, then you can carry this on when you get the fish home.

they shud be floated on top of the pond for 20minutes as pond fish are usually sold in heated ponds and are usually warmer than your pond at home.

hope all of this helps you

  • your gold fish would get eaten!

  • Yes, you can mix goldfish with Koi.

But Kois will grow up to a meter long, and in a pond, it will stunt their growth.

It will live, but in pain.
