Fairly big aquarium? Thats not a 30 gallon. Thats a very small aquarium by koi standards. If you dont have an extremely large tank, or a pond of some sort, dont even get a koi. They do need really big tanks, or ponds, and thinking that in 30 years time, you might move into a bigger house isn't going to cut it!
