Can a koi fish live with a betta fish in a 10 gallon tank?

koi
Slick Rick asked:

I saw some koi fish at walmart that grow about 5” to 6”. Just wondering if a koi fish would get along with my betta. If so could i add more koi fish with him?

The koi would outgrow the 10 gallon tank in about a month, or less. A fantail goldfish would be a good match for such a small tank.

Koi grow to 3-4 feet. They shouldn’t be kept in anything smaller than a pond, except temporarily.

Koi (and goldfish) are coldwater, the betta is tropical and needs a heater, so they shouldn’t have to live in the same temperature – one of them will suffer for it.

    I seconmd copperhead.

no koi stays that little. walmart is unreliable whne it comes to information about fish. and bettas prefer water temps of around 80°F while goldfish/koi prefer colder temps.

No koi fish grows to six inches. Don’t listen to Walmart, I have seen them trying to say Pacus grow to five inches! Yeah right! The koi will eat your betta as it grows, and if you keep it in 10 it will die.
