green sturgeon help please?

Chris asked:

i live in ca. and am going fishing soon for stripers and sturgeon. im using grass shrimp but can get mudsuckers, bullheads, ghost shrimp aswell. the question is does anyone know the best season/time/tide to catch sturgeon? my dad says the best time is when it rains a lot and it gets extremely muddy. but idk for sure. also what bait of those 4 would be best for them?

  • The Wormist

shrimp, fish, nightcrawlers, clams all work well for sturgeon. they are bottom feeders.
go with the grass shrimp or worms and follow Dad’s advice.

HOWEVER… you DO need a sturgeon fishing report card WITH tags,

AND… green sturgeon may NOT be taken or possessed.

unless, of course, you’re not fishing in california but it sounds to me that you are fishing in the bay/delta area…

yeh your dad is correct i usually catch more sturgeon when its rainy and muddy. grass shrimp should be fine i use those sometimes aswell

  • Wow, this was a rellay quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a lot and never seem to get something done.
