the gin rin or tancho will most likely be the more expensive ones. Although normally it does go by thier markings and color variation you will find the larger ones to hold the bigger price. i have seen many different variations of koi reach up to 2000 USD.

I am afraid it isnt anything to do with size or breed. Its the pattern on their backs, a clean clear and unusual pattern will earn the most money. A 12 to 13 inch gold fish would probably retail around £10 at the local pond fish shops. Although you would be unlikely to sell it to a shop for that price as it is probably an older fish but they would take it off your hands.

If you get them in harry ramsdens the are about 3.00 pounds (including chips) butr if you go to the more upmarrket Ivy restaurant in london then I believe you are looking at 30 or 40 pounds (without the chips). But you could just go to a supermarket and gety your own chips and do them for much less at home.

It's not type. Koi's worth are based on color. How clean their color patterns are. Size has nothing to do with price if the color is not good.

Patterned koi are always the most expensive, so your kohaku or tancho should be the most valuable. The edges of the colour should be sharp and you don't want any small dots of colour. Tancho are great koi, especially if the red spot is centrally positioned and as near circular as possible.

Don't know about goldfish values...sorry
