Its the pattern on their backs, a clean clear and unusual pattern will earn the most money. A 12 to 13 inch gold fish would probably retail around £10 at the local pond fish shops. Although you would be unlikely to sell it to a shop for that price as it is probably an older fish but they would take it off your hands. I am afraid it isnt anything to do with size or breed. But you could just go to a supermarket and gety your own chips and do them for much less at home. The edges of the colour should be sharp and you don't want any small dots of colour. Tancho are great koi, especially if the red spot is centrally positioned and as near circular as possible.
