I don’t have one, but I’ve worked with them. They’re sweet! Pretty high energy, though.
I have one they are such good dogs. Graet with kids too! I suggest visiting a vizsla rescue to see if that is the breed for you and meet a few! adopting is the way!
i do. and she is LOTS of work! we got one because my boyfriend grew up with them as a kid. but the ones he had were adults and already trained! if you get one as a puppy, you will come to know that they are VERY energetic. akc calls them lively hahaha. she can never be exercised enough. no matter what we do, play fetch for hours, go hiking, running up and down the mountains, etc…when we come home thinking she’s tired and done for the day..after a 5 minute break she’ll be back to her butt-wiggling self, jumping and springing off the walls. and these puppy stages aren’t just for the first year..she’ll be like this for the next 3-4 years. and..she’s a girl. we have heard that the males have even MORE energy!
but aside from their craziness, they are the sweetest most affectionate dogs. they are super loving. they aren’t called velcro dogs for nothing. no matter what we are doing, she has to be touching at least one of us in some way. whether its leaning on us, has one paw in our lap, whatever. she is the sweetest dog. vizslas are known for having strong bonds with their owners, and being very loving and affectionate. they are very smart..it is said that vizslas have the mentality of a human toddler when they are fully matured. very smart and highly trainable. they are great family dogs. they love EVERYONE..which can sometimes be annoying when we find ours sitting in someone else’s lap at the dog park..traitor! but she loves everyone, and everyone loves her.
vizslas make wonderful pets…but just beware of their high energy level! maybe you can get a trained adult…that would be a good way of enjoying all of her good traits without the stress that comes with raising a super energetic puppy!
I have a 2.5 year old male. Had him since he was 7 weeks old. Very fun dogs as long as you enjoy exercise and spending time outdoors. You have to exercise them everyday. They have to run off leash. Walking around the neighborhood is not sufficient. We found a dog park with 4 or 5 vizslas that go regularly. Very smart dogs and easy to train. But the smarts can sometimes get the best of you. If left alone for too long they’ll find ways to entertain themselves that aren’t always furniture friendly. Great family dogs. 65 pound lap dog really. Expect to spend quite a bit on chew treats and peanut butter.
i have one, her picture is to the left.
good family dogs. but i recommend you don’t allow them to jump, they tend to have long nails, and can easily hurt a child.
