Chris j asked:
My pond is dirty and could do with a good clean, would it be ok to keep them in a tank in the house while i sort out the pond? They’ll prob be in there for a couple of weeks. I have 8 of them and the biggest is about 4 inches
it needs to be a couple of weeks for the water to mature

yeah should be if they all have enough space to swim around in. maybe you should hurry up and clean the pond so they can get back in as quick as poss?
How big is the tank and is it cycled?
If it’s a good size, (50gal maybe) then no problem for a few months.
If the tank is too small you are probably better to refill the pond, add water conditioner and put the fish back in. The water doesn’t need to sit for 2 weeks, providing you add a water conditioner.
Ian
What you are talking about is stripping the pond down to nothing and starting again from scratch?
Agree with Ian, the tank would need to be 40 UK gallon, cycled and with good filtration. If it was me I would clean the pond section by section over a couple of weeks and leave the fish in it. Get your wellies on and get in amongst it; the fish will shift, but if your worried you could bucket them while you are working.
Too much of a risk and a lot of work catching them. The next time this problem arises they will be bigger, so practise now while they are small.
there should be no problem as long as your tank is large enough and is well filtered as they are dirty feeders.you can as others have said clean the pond in stages which i do every year with no adverse effects
My ghost koi carp has always lived in a fish tank and ive never had any problems. and he has grown pretty big.
Yeah, carp are pretty tough fish. He should be fine, but keep an eye on him and increase air to the tank if needed. 4 inches is not that big so they should be fine.
